 I went into watching "Taxi" with huge expectations. I love Jimmy Fallon and have loved him since he started on Saturday Night Live. Watching this movie made me realize I could not have possibly loved him for his acting skills.
Fallon plays the character of Washburn, an extremely dedicated police officer who gets his driver's licence revoked for crashing one too many cars. Queen Latifah, the movie's saving grace, plays Belle Williams, who starts her first day as a taxi driver on the same day Washburn needs a ride.
The mismatched duo never really had the type of chemistry it takes to make an awesome onscreen pair. Just like his SNL days, I kept waiting for Jimmy Fallon to bust up laughing.
The movie has some great action scenes and car chases. The cars in the movie are seriously tricked out and look spectacular driving through the streets of New York.
This version of Taxi is a remake of the French version that was filmed in 1998. The French version was a big enough success to make a second and third sequel. Let's hope nobody from the American version gets that bright idea.
If you're looking for a mindless movie with great car chases and a just few funny one-liners, then go for Taxi. Otherwise, go for something else.
