 I love a good random independent movie. When Garden State came out I wanted to see it as I thought it looked good, but I never had the chance. Now that it is on DVD I was given the chance.
The movie is about Andrew's trip back home after his mother dies. He hasn't been home in 9 years, and it is about his rekindling of friendships with people of old, and people of new.
The first part of the movie was rather boring to me. He is hanging out with his friends and all they do is drink and party and what not. But then he meets Sam and his life starts to change. He decides to spend quality time with her and his life starts to change for the better. In the end he of course has his happy ending where his character has grown by leaps and bounds.
To me however this movie did not live up to the hype that it was given. It was supposed to be this great movie that was going to put Zach Braff on the map in Hollywood. While he did a great job of acting in the movie, the writing and directing was nothing spectacular. Don't get me wrong this movie is enjoyable, but to me it was not what I was led to believe.
