Elektra

One thing I hate is when people go into a movie expecting something that the movie will not provide. Good examples are going into American Pie expecting academy award winning performances or watching The Notebook expecting to laugh your ass off. Case in point with Elektra. This movie panned in the box office. Why? It was rushed, and people were expecting an amazing story, after all it had Jennifer Garner in it.

The movie was rushed. Did it feel that way? Not really. Could the story have been better developed? Yes. So with that said, lets get on with the review of Elektra.

The movie is a spin off of Dare Devil in the loosest sense. It starts off with a man sitting in front of a fire and talking to the new head of security. He goes on to explain how much of a bad ass Elektra is and how she can kill almost anyone, how she was killed once before, blah, blah, blah. We get it. Of course she kills him. We are then told that she is a contract killer and that is how she makes all of her money.

For some reason her character has developed OCD since her appearance in Dare Devil. I did not read this comic as a kid, but my guess is that the OCD was something pulled from the comic. Additionally her character is a lot colder and just sort of bland until later on in the movie.

The plot is about her protecting this family from "The Hand" which is an organization of bad guys. She was contracted to kill the family, but she had a change of heart and so the story begins. It turns out this family has a secret weapon in the little girl, and that she can use a chain to whip the hell out of people.

While the story was good, it was not great. There was a lot that could have been developed that they chose to leave out for some reason. As I said, this movie was rushed, and as such some parts were left out. I enjoyed this movie because I knew what I was getting into, a comic book movie. Was this movie the worst comic to movie, no, but it definitely wasn't the best one either.
