Pixar has had a pretty good history of making movies. Cars marks the 7th installment in their feature films and it was almost going to be a let down after the amazing Incredibles. However the movie did not disappoint and was very fun.
The plot is very basic. One car is on his way to becoming number one while not caring about anyone or anything other than himself. He gets lost on his way to the championship race and learns that there is more to life other than himself. He learns about friendship and trust and all that other stuff. And of course it all comes into play at the end.
So yeah, plot wise, not the hardest to follow, but it does allow for the story to unfold. The beauty with cars however is how Pixar animated them. The reflections on specific paint jobs was a nice touch, but then some other little details would pop in and remind you that it was an animated car.
The best moments were when the animators took the time to really play off the human traits that people have. The two that come to mind are the "lower back tattoo" on the porche and then the cars spitting over the edge of the stadium at the end.
Overall this movie was great. Pixar cannot disappoint and it would take some serious intervention for them to be able to screw up a movie. |
