 It had been quiet a while since I had originally scene this movie. I decided that I was going to pick a movie from each letter of the alphabet and review. Thus we have America's Sweethearts for the first movie back.
Originally when I saw this movie I was a huge John Cusack fan. But this cast was huge, in addition to Cusack, there was Billy Crystal, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Julia Roberts. The premise of the movie is that John Cusack and Catherine Zeta Jones used to be married and made a bunch of movies together. Thus the name America's Sweethearts. They made one movie together before breaking up and they now have to promote it.
Of course during the course of the movie John Cusack falls for his ex wife's sister (played by Julia Roberts). We have all the standard romantic comedy elements in the movie.
Two extremely funny characters. The first is Hector played by Hank Azaria. He is the reason why Cathernine Zeta Jones and John Cusack break up. The other is played by Christopher Walken who lets face it, is comedy gold.
The movie didn't lose anything by being watched 5 years after the original release. I didn't notice anything new in the movie, but it still was enjoyable to watch. Thus I give it a 3.5 out of 4. |
